Papa Johns announced a deal with a California company on Thursday to buy the Italian company’s long-running business in the U.S. and expand into new markets.
The deal, which Papa John has said it will keep secret until a final deal is finalized, will create Papa John International, which will expand its portfolio of paper towels in the United States and expand its online operations in Europe.
The company said in a statement that it will be headquartered in New York and the U, but that it expects to bring the deal to fruition later this year.
Viva Paper and Looseleaf are brands that have been synonymous with the American paper towel industry.
The two companies are known for their distinctive designs and innovative packaging, which is part of a longstanding rivalry between the two.
